Jr. K-Wings Open Tryout Camps

The Junior K-Wings are members of the North American Hockey League and are looking for talented players to compete for positions for the 2012-13 season. 

Our team will be conducting two open tryout camps.  The first camp will be held May 25-27.  An additional open tryout camp will be held from June 27-29.  Both tryout camps will be held at our home facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Wings West (formerly S2 and Twin-Star Arena). Players will be selected from these two camps to attend the Junior K-Wings Main Tryout Camp to be held June 29 – July 1 in Kalamazoo to select the roster for the upcoming season. 

Both three-day open tryout camps are open to all players who have aspirations of playing at the Tier II Junior “A” level, but enrollment is limited and will fill quickly.  To confirm your attendance, please return the registration form along with payment as soon as possible.  You will receive a confirmation e-mail along with a detailed schedule of when you should attend camp after we receive your registration form and as the camp date nears.

Further information regarding hotels for players desiring accommodations will be provided.  Players are responsible for their own room and board and transportation.

Tentative May 25 -27 Tryout Camp Format

Registration/Check-In will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday, May 25.  Players will practice once in mid-morning or  early afternoon.  Scrimmage games will begin early evening on May 25.  On Saturday, May 26, players will participate in a scrimmage game in the morning and in the late afternoon.  On Sunday, May 27 an All-Star game will be played with players being selected based on the coaching staff’s evaluation of the previous two days. 

Tentative June 27-29 Tryout Camp Format

Registration/Check-In will begin at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, June 27.  Players will practice once in mid-morning.  Scrimmage games will begin late afternoon/early evening on June 27.  On Thursday, June 28, players will participate in a scrimmage game in the morning and in the late afternoon.  On Friday, June 29 an All-Star game will be played with players being selected based on the coaching staff’s evaluation of the previous two days. 

Prior to Attending a Jr. K-Wings Open Tryout Camp

Prior to attending a Kalamazoo Junior K-Wings Open Tryout Camp, you must first do the following:

1. You MUST register with USA Hockey for the 2012-13 season before you arrive at camp. Even though your current registration shows it is still valid, USA Hockey REQUIRES that anyone trying out to compete in the upcoming season must be registered for that season. It can be done online for $30 at www.usahockeyregistration.com. Please provide the confirmation number prior to attending the camp. The fourth digit will be a “2”. Registration will be available after April 1.

2. You MUST fill out and provide our Tryout Registration form along with payment.

3. You MUST fill out and provide the Consent To Treat/Medical History form.

4. In addition, all non-US citizens must complete the USA Hockey Tryout Notice form.
