North American Hockey League (NAHL) North Division

Celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2010-11, the North American Hockey League is the largest USA Hockey-sanctioned Junior A league boasting 27 teams from across North America. It prides itself on the development of social maturity and skill of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey.

The NAHL has evolved from a Detroit-based league in the Upper Midwest to one that today extends west to Alaska and British Columbia, east to Michigan, and south to New Mexico and Texas.

The North Division consists of the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, St. Louis Bandits, Springfield Jr. Blues, Chicago Hitmen, Traverse City North Stars, Port Huron Fighting Falcons, Motor City Metal Jackets, Janesville (WI) Jets, and the Michigan (Flint) Warriors.

NAHL competition helps players make the transition from midget and high school hockey to the college and professional ranks by creating an environment that is highly competitive, encourages skill development and provides time for physical growth and maturity.

To generate exposure and enhance competition, each team plays a 58-game regular-season schedule which runs from September to April, with exhibition games and league playoff games providing additional contests.

The NAHL Showcase Tournament, Top Prospects Tournaments and Robertson Cup Championship Tournament allow teams a chance to measure themselves in front of hundreds of collegiate and professional scouts and coaches from across North America to ensure maximum visibility for every student-athlete.

The NAHL's primary goal is to enhance the development of its players through top-quality coaching, extensive practice time and a rigorous game schedule. The league is committed to providing these developmental opportunities in conjunction with a commitment to academic support. The league's schedule is largely designed around weekend travel to minimize school conflicts.

NAHL games are easily accessible to college and professional talent evaluators. NHL teams, NHL Central Scouting and scores of college programs from around the country consistently scout games, showcases and the playoffs.

The league's web site, NAHL.com, publishes the most authoritative team and league news and statistics available. In addition, NAHL games are broadcast locally on the radio, video broadcast on the internet, covered in print by daily newspapers and featured in regional and national newspapers, various hockey publications, specialty web sites and other media outlets.
